La Jolla Shores is a particular parent favorite for its calm waters and stunning views. But it’s not just about the beach. San Diego also offers fantastic toddler-friendly attractions like the San Diego Zoo, one of the best in the world, and LEGOLAND California, which is packed with gentle rides and interactive exhibits for your little explorers. The weather here is mild, with temperatures typically in the 60s-70s°F during spring, thus perfect for getting outdoors.

Hilton Head Island, SC

Looking for a quieter, more laid-back beach experience? Hilton Head Island is one of our favorite spring break destinations for families with toddlers. With wide, flat beaches and calm waters, it’s a great place for your little ones to safely splash around. In addition to the beach, there are plenty of family-friendly activities, like playing mini golf or capping off a day in Harbour Town by listening to Gregg Russell perform his kid-friendly music. Plus, many of the resorts cater specifically to families with toddlers, offering kid-friendly pools, playgrounds, and activities.

There are plenty of stroller-friendly trails like the Sugarland Valley Nature Trail, which will let you soak in the beauty of the mountains without leaving your little one behind.

The nearby town of Pigeon Forge also offers an amusement park with rides and attractions to entertain the whole family. Plus, springtime brings wildflowers to the area, making it even more special for a family stroll.

Savannah, GA

Known for its picturesque charm, Savannah is perfect for strolling with your toddler through historic squares and lush parks. The Savannah Children’s Museum is an excellent stop, offering interactive exhibits that allow kids to learn in a fun way. A visit to Forsyth Park will give you the chance to relax, have a picnic, and let your toddler run around in one of the city’s best playgrounds. We were not able to make it outside of town, but if you’re up for a day trip, Tybee Island is just a short drive away. There you can enjoy its gentle beaches and maybe even catch a glimpse of dolphins!

  • Additionally, if your toddler is a fan of Peppa Pig, the Peppa Pig Theme Park is a smaller, less overwhelming experience.
  • Orlando also has a variety of resorts with kid-friendly amenities like themed pools and character dining, making it a dream destination for families with young kids.

Williamsburg, VA

For a more relaxed but still fun-filled experience, Williamsburg should be on your radar. For example, Busch Gardens has a special area just for younger children called Sesame Street Forest of Fun. Here your toddlers can meet characters, enjoy gentle rides, and explore. If you’re visiting in warmer weather, Water Country USA is an excellent place for toddlers to cool off with splash zones and mini water slides designed for little ones. The weather here is mild in spring, typically ranging from the 50s-70s°F, which makes it comfortable for outdoor fun. And when you’re ready for a break from the theme parks, you can explore the historic charm of Colonial Williamsburg, which offers a mix of fun and learning.

Washington, D.C.

If you’re looking for an urban destination with plenty of free activities for your toddler, Washington, D.C. is a fantastic option. The Smithsonian museums are not only free, but many are also incredibly toddler-friendly. The National Museum of Natural History is a big hit with young kids, especially the dinosaur exhibits. Our 3-year-old absolutely loved seeing all the planes and rockets at the National Air and Space Museum. Also, don’t forget the National Zoo, where your toddler can spot pandas, elephants, and plenty of other animals. If you’re visiting in early spring, you might even catch the cherry blossoms in full bloom around the Tidal Basin, which is my personal favorite time to see D.C.!

Austin, TX

For a more laid-back, quirky urban experience, Austin is a perfect choice for families with toddlers. We may be a little biased because we live here, but there really is so much to do with your little ones!

Historic Old San Juan is a stroller-friendly spot, with its cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and interesting forts to explore. Plus, the warm temperatures and the fact that it is a U.S. territory (don’t need your passport if you’re from the U.S.) make this a great choice for a spring break getaway.
